Ashtanga YogAgile is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga according to Mysore Tradition.

YogAgile is a Pragmatic Approach to Practice, instead of a Dogmatic one. Faithful to the purity of the principles, I believe on the importance to Learn to Listen and Believe in Our Instinct to adapt our efforts and postures to the uniqueness of our body in the present moment. Asanas are an Instrument of Experience and not the Ultimate Aim of the Practice.

YogAgile is the sharing of the World Seen from a Yoga Mat, but also of the Spiritual Quest of a Sceptical Italian Engineer, traveling around the globe in an attempt to Rediscover the taste of the Original Sources. With deep respect for all teachers, but with solid belief in teachings rather than in teachers.

  • Do not rely on the individual, rely on the Dharma.
  • Do not rely on the words, rely on the meaning.
  • Do not rely on the apparent meaning, rely on the certain meaning.
  • Do not rely on consciousness, rely on primordial wisdom.

(from Catuhpratisarana Sutra – Mahayana Buddhism)

The Sanskrit term Yoga (योग) is generally derived from the root “yui-“ having meaning of join, unite, to attach, to bond, yoke. The word Yoga is cognate with the English word yoke.

Yoke oneself like a horse willing to obey

(Rgveda Samhitā, V46.1, quoted in Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy – Induismo e Buddismo – Milan, Rusconi, 1973, p. 76)

From the Latin agĭlis, der. of agĕreto lead”, originally “easy to lead.” Having speed and lightness of movement of body and mind (intelligence, acuteness, perspicacity). Being nimble, able to move quickly and easily. Being able to think and understand easily.

YogAgile is a sharing point mainly focused on Yoga, but with an Agile Holistic View of all aspects of the practitioner.

What at first glance may seems to be a discrepancy, a contradiction, is actually only the effect of a limited understanding of the total vision.

“Whether you’re making the first sun salutation at the age of 14 or 44, it’s not your story that matters, but your presence on the mat.”

– Sri K. Pattabhi Jois

“The Body is the Bow, the Asana the Arrow and the Soul the Target.”

– B.K.S. Iyengar
